Series: Women’s Premier League 2023

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women vs Delhi Capitals Women, 2nd Match 5th march afternoon three thirty pm

Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai

Delhi Capitals have named Meg Lanning as their captain in the Women’s Premier League and it doesn’t come as a surprise at all given her spotless leadership career and recent heroics for the Australian
team in the T20 World Cup in South Africa.

Jemimah Rodrigues has been named Lanning’s deputy. Shafali Verma and Shikha Pandey are their main Indian players other than Rodrigues.

Shafali Verma, Jasia Akhtar, Jemimah Rodrigues and Meg Lanning are likely to form Delhi’s top four with all-rounders Marizanne Kapp and Alice Capsey providing them with a lot of flexibility in the middle order.

Jess Jonassen, Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey and Poonam Yadav will be their leading bowlers.

Royal Challengers Bangalore made Smriti Mandhana the most expensive player at the WPL auctions and for good reason. They have already announced Mandhana as their captain and her role both as opener
and as the leader will be instrumental to RCB’s success.

Mandhana is likely to be followed by Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Dane van Niekerk and Heather Knight in the batting order. Perry was in ominous form on Australia’s recent trip to India and will be a crucial player for the side.

Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh will be RCB’s designated finisher, a role she has performed wonderfully for Team India.

Megan Schutt and Renuka Thakur will be RCB’s main bowlers.

PITCH REPORT

The pitch is expected to remain balanced for this game, and the average first innings score in the last five T20 matches has been 177 runs.
The pacers and spinners will likely find an equal amount of help from the pitch in this game. The team winning the toss might elect to bat.
