Series: Indian Premier League 2023

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals, 20th Match 15th April afaternoon three thirty PM

Venue: M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will be looking to get back to winning ways in IPL 2023 as they host a deflated Delhi Capitals in the first clash of a doubleheader Saturday.

The Royal Challengers made a positive start to the season, defeating 5-time Champions, the Mumbai Indians in the first match. However, things have gone a bit downhill since then as the Royal Challengers
have lost 2 consecutive games since then and now find themselves in the bottom half of the table.

RCB’s latest fixture played against the Lucknow Super Giants was a high-scoring affair and they will be pretty disappointed after losing the match in the very last ball. Nevertheless, they will be hoping to put the loss
behind them and start afresh here.

The opening pair of Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli is in scintillating form as both have scored 2 half-centuries each and will be looking to give the team another good start here. Glen Maxwell
too got some runs under his belt in the last match and will be feeling pretty confident when he takes on the field. However, the middle order remains a bit untested for the Royal Challengers.

Dinesh Kartik has got limited time in the middle, while the likes of Akash Deep, Michael Bracewell, and Shahbaz Ahmed have batted just once so far. One area where the home team will need to work on is bowling.
While the likes of Mohammad Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Karn Sharma have managed to pick up wickets, they have been way too expensive, especially in the death overs.

DELHI CAPITALS
The Delhi Capitals have endured a disastrous start to their campaign and have lost all 4 matches they have played so far. As a result, they are firmly placed at the bottom of the points table
and will need to win some matches soon if they want to remain in the race for a top-4 finish.

Other than David Warner, none of the top and middle-order batsmen have managed to impress the fans so far. Warner has struck 3 half-centuries in his 4 outings and is currently second on the list of top scorers for the tournament.

Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey have got a couple of good starts but have squandered them away, while the middle order, consisting of Yash Dhull, Rovman Powell, and Abhishek Porel has failed to fire.
The fact that a number 7 batsman, Axar Patel, has scored more than the top-order batsmen speaks volumes about the quality of batting.

Axar scored his first-ever half-century in the IPL during the team’s latest encounter against the Mumbai Indians and will be hoping to play another good inning here. He hasn’t however
clicked with the ball as he has managed just 1 wicket in 4 matches, while Kuldeep Yadav has got just 2.

The Delhi Capitals will rely on their seam attack consisting of Mustafizur Rahman, Anrich Nortje, and Mukesh Kumar to give them a good start with the new ball.

Pitch Report
The pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is excellent to bat on and we are likely to see another high-scoring encounter here. The surface offers a good bounce and there is little in it for the bowlers,
except for some cracks and rough spots. Teams batting first will look to score at least 200 to give the bowlers something to defend.
