However, you always need to start with learning how the expression language works itself. What operators can be used, and what are the very simple basics of writing a DAX expression.
This is where DAX formulas tend to differ from DAX functions in important ways. If you are the only one building or manipulating the dashboard this shouldn’t be a problem, but for those working in teams, it might complicate things. I personally experienced colleagues unfamiliar with the language getting stuck in using dashboard manipulation professional trading strategies caused by DAX confusion. There is a lot of data manipulation possible in DAX even before your data ends up in one of the widgets. For anything that does not have to be dynamically generated, there are a lot of alternatives.
